Pesawat itu sebelumnya hilang kontak dan ditemukan jatuh di Gunung Mabualem, Distrik Welarek, Kabupaten Yahukimo, Papua Pegunungan, pada 23 Juni 2023.
“Memang betul Tim SAR Gabungan tidak menemukan kotak hitam milik pesawat PK-SMW dan saat ini semua personel sudah kembali dari lokasi tempat pesawat tersebut mengalami kecelakaan,” ujarnya
pesawat sudah dalam kondisi hancur serta hangus, dan hanya menyisakan bagian ekor pesawat. Pencarian black box ini dilakukan setelah tim mengevakuasi enam jenazah penumpang dan kru pesawat pada 27 Juni 2023.
Para korban itu adalah pilot Hari Permadi dan kopilot Levi Murib. Lalu empat penumpang yakni Bartolomeus (34), Ebeth Halerohon (29), Dormina Halerohon (17), dan Kilimputni (20).
Seluruh jenazah kini sudah berada di RS Bhayangkara untuk diidentifikasi oleh tim DVI Polda Papua. Kabid Dokkes Polda Papua, Kombes Pol. Nariyana, menyebut identifikasi akan memakan waktu lama karena kondisi korban yang sebagian besar terbakar dan tidak utuh.
