“Alhamdulillah per sore tadi dan malam ini kepadatan di Pelabuhan Merak sudah terurai,” kata Sigit kepada wartawan, Sabtu (30/4/2022) malam.
Sigit mengatakan, kepadatan di Pelabuhan Merak bisa terurai karena adanya penambahan pelabuhan untuk mudik yakni Pelabuhan Indah Kiat dan Pelabuhan Ciwandan. Penambahan dua pelabuhan ini serta kerja keras petugas kepolisian dan jajaran terkait di lapangan, cepat mengatasi antrean kendaraan yang sempat padat.
Sigit menyebut kapasitas normal di Pelabuhan Merak hanya menampung kurang lebih 19 ribu penumpang. Sehingga mau tak mau diperlukan rekayasa tambahan dan langkah dalam mencegah kepadatan, di antaranya dengan penambahan kapal dan dermaga.
Mantan Kabareskrim Polri ini sebelumnya mengimbau agar masyarakat yang hendak menyebrang dari Pelabuhan Merak ke Pelabuhan Bakauheni agar membeli tiket sebelum jalan. Hal ini dilakukan agar mempercepat proses saat masuk ke pelabuhan.
“Kalau memang masih belum mudik maka pilihan melaksanakan reservasi tiket melalui aplikasi online jauh lebih bagus dan mempercepat pada saat loading. Namun demikian semuanya akan dilayani baik go show maupun reservasi,” ucap Sigit.
Mantan Kapolda Banten ini juga mengingatkan jajarannya untuk terus memberikan pelayanan terbaik kepada para pemudik. Selain itu, anggota diminta memberikan sosialisasi semua kebijakan dan menjawab apa yang menjadi kendala masyarakat.
“Kita harapkan di sisa waktu yang ada di H-2, H-1 dan H pelayanan bisa meningkat dan menjadi lebih baik. Dalam menghadapi arus balik kita juga harus mempersiapkan langkah ekstra dan rekayasa yang harus dilakukan di wilayah Bakauheni karena akan terbalik di sana padat dan diperlukan langkah-langkah khusus,” tutup Sigit.
