Jakarta – Kamera tilang elektronik atau Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) telah bekerja secara optimal untuk memonitor para pengendara di jalan, terutama pengendara kendaraan roda dua. Hal tersebut disampaikan Kapolda Metro Jaya Irjen. Pol. Karyoto, S.I.K., M.H., saat memantau kondisi malam takbiran di Jakarta.
“Secara sistem ETLE itu sangat aktif, nanti akan termonitor berapa capture yang melanggar. Mereka memang merasa tidak ada yang mengawasi, tapi kenyataan nya tiba-tiba didatangi surat untuk membayar denda kepada pengadilan langsung,” jelas Kapolda.
Irjen. Pol. Karyoto juga menjelaskan masih banyak pengendara sepeda motor yang melanggar seperti tidak menggunakan helm, jika suatu daerah telah terpasang CCTV yang berkaitan dengan ETLE itu akan otomatis telah bekerja.
“Sebenarnya masalah penggunaan helm harusnya para pengendara sadar sendiri karena helm untuk keselamatannya sendiri bukan untuk petugas,” ungkap Kapolda.
Kapolda juga mengimbau kepada masyarakat pengguna jalan khususnya pengendara sepeda motor untuk mentaati peraturan agar selamat berlalu lintas, gunakan alat pelindung keselamatan diri penuhi yang standar.(Redaksiswanara)
