Kalbar – Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Bencana (BNPB) mendukung upaya penanganan kebakaran hutan dan lahan (karhutla) di Kalimantan Barat (Kalbar) dengan pengerahan satu pesawat untuk melakukan Teknologi Modifikasi Cuaca (TMC).
Direktur Dukungan Sumber Daya Darurat BNPB Rustian mengatakan, TMC merupakan tindak lanjut dari permintaan kepala daerah setempat, setelah adanya penetapan status siaga darurat dalam menghadapi potensi bencana asap akibat karhutla.
“Berdasarkan hasil rapat, disimpulkan kegiatan TMC akan dilaksanakan selama 15 hari, mulai 24 Mei 2023 sampai dengan 7 Juni 2023,” ujarnya.
Pemerintah Provinsi (Pemprov) Kalbar melaksanakan pertemuan secara daring pada 19 Mei 2023 yang dihadiri perwakilan kementerian dan lembaga, diantaranya Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi dan Geofisika (BMKG), Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional (BRIN), Badan Restorasi Gambut dan Mangrove (BRGM), Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan (KLHK), BPBD Provinsi Kalbar, serta Lanud Supadio Pontianak.
Gubernur Kalbar pun telah menetapkan status siaga darurat bencana asap di wilayahnya, serta upaya kesiapsiagaan akan potensi karhutla yang terjadi.
Rustian mengatakan TMC bertujuan untuk membasahi lahan sehingga dapat mencegah karhutla.
“Operasi TMC pembasahan lahan akan efektif apabila dilaksanakan pada periode di mana pertumbuhan awan hujan masih cukup signifikan, maka waktu terbaik yang dapat dilakukan adalah sebelum masuk di periode puncak musim kemarau,” ujarnya.
Pesawat untuk TMC tersebut telah tiba di Pontianak pada 23 Mei 2023. Pada penerbangan perdana 26 Mei 2023, Pesawat Cesna C-208B melaksanakan penerbangan dengan ketinggian 10.500 feet dan melakukan penyemaian awan di utara Kabupaten Ketapang. Sejauh ini operasi TMC telah menghabiskan bahan semai sebanyak 800 kilogram.(Redaksiswanara)
