Jayapura.- Tercatat terdapat 3.017 mahasiswa Papua termasuk yang berasal dari tiga daerah otonomi baru (DOB) menerima beasiswa melalui program Afirmasi Pendidikan Tinggi (ADIK).
Kabid Pendidikan Khusus dan Layanan Khusus (PKLK) Dinas Pendidikan Perpustakaan dan Arsip Papua, Laurens Wantik mengatakan ribuan mahasiswa asal Papua penerima beasiswa ADIK itu tersebar di 97 perguruan tinggi negeri dan swasta di Indonesia.
Mahasiswa penerima ADIK asal Papua saat ini menuntut ilmu di berbagai kota pendidikan di antaranya di Lhokseumawe, Bandung, Surabaya, Bogor, Bali, Jakarta, Kupang, Ambon, Makassar dan Manado.
Setiap tahun Papua mendapat kuota sekitar 400 orang namun untuk tahun 2022 lalu yang lolos sebanyak 315 orang.
Untuk tahun 2023 orang, baru akan dilakukan penjaringan pertengahan bulan April.
“Program ADIK ditujukan untuk pelajar asli Papua yang ingin melanjutkan pendidikan ke perguruan tinggi,” ujarnya.
Selama melanjutkan perkuliahan, mereka diberikan asuransi kesehatan selama kuliah sebesar Rp 10 juta, biaya pendidikan dan bulanan masing-masing sebesar Rp 1,5 juta.
